For many Christians, the month of December is a festive time of Christmas celebration. Unfortunately, a confused message of Christmas is being taught by the juxtaposition of the story of Jesus’ birth and the story of Santa Claus.
Let’s be honest, embedded in the story of Santa is the false gospel of moralism, legalism, and prosperity gospel. Just listen to the most popular Santa song:
He’s making a list
And checking it twice;
He’s gonna find out who’s naughty and nice
Santa Claus is coming to town
He sees you when you’re sleeping
He knows when you’re awake
He knows when you’ve been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!
So, it is a breath of fresh air to find this children’s book by Simon Camilleri (and illustrated by Matt Boutros) that confronts the false gospel of the secular Christmas with the truth about the real Jesus of Christianity: When Santa Learned the Gospel.
